Christ the King Catholic School opened in August, 1986.  The school plant at that time consisted of a two-story main school building.  The first floor contained 12,000 square feet, while the second floor was left unfinished.  A multi-purpose building of 10,700 square feet served as a cafeteria and an auditorium for school use.  Three classrooms were also contained in this area.  Two of those rooms served as kindergarten classrooms.  The main school wing consisted of nine classrooms, a media center, an administrative area, men’s and ladies’ restrooms, and a teacher work area.

The school opened with two sections each of Kindergarten through third grade, one section of fourth grade, and a combined fifth and sixth grade.  The population of the school was comprised of 200 students, ten teachers, a librarian, a secretary/bookkeeper, and a principal.  Enrollment for the 1987-88 school year necessitated completion of the second floor of the main school wing with the addition of an art room, computer lab, and ten classrooms.  The administrative area on the first floor was remodeled to meet the demands of growth and needed teacher work space.  A kindergarten classroom was added to the multipurpose building to accommodate the addition of two classes.  This brought the total number of kindergarten classes to four.

During the summer of 1989, further construction was necessary to add a 12,900 square foot junior high wing.  The wing consists of six classrooms, a fully equipped science lab, a computer/writing center, an administrative area for the assistant principal, a bookroom, a teacher work room, a conference room, men’s and ladies’ restrooms, and a janitorial storage room.

In the fall of 1993, construction began on a 15,399 square foot gymnasium complex and was completed January, 1994.  In the gymnasium complex consists an 8,881 square foot gym.  An office for the physical education teacher/athletic director, a concession area, a concession storage room, men’s and ladies’ restrooms, a janitorial storage closet, and two other storage areas contributed an additional 3,259 square feet to the first floor.  The second floor of the gymnasium complex, which contained 3,259 square feet of space, was comprised of six offices, men's and ladies' restrooms, a workroom, a conference room, a storage closet, and two stairwells with storage space.

No further construction was needed until the summer of 1998.  At that time, the upper level of the gymnasium complex was restructured.  Walls were removed and remodeling transformed the offices to a large art room with one restroom, an office for the art teacher, and three storage rooms.  In addition, the library was expanded to 1750 square feet.  A wall was removed to increase the library to twice its original size.

Our most recent addition came in 2004.  Our parish purchased the building to the south of the school building.  A portion of the first floor of the building, which is called Christ the King Ministries Building, was renovated to house our Pre-school.  Christ the King Pre-K opened in the fall of 2004 with two Pre-K classrooms for four year olds and two additional classrooms are ready for growth in the future.  What a blessed addition the Pre-K is to our school!
