Confirmation Requirements

7th Grade

As your child enters the 7th grade school year, he or she also begins a two-year program of  preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation.  The links below provide a brief overview of the Confirmation program requirement.

Your help at home is critical to the success of this program.  Please review this information with your child and make sure they have the proper encouragement to begin work on their service hour requirement.

Please contact David or Kristie Fox (223-6999) with any questions.

  Service Hours:

The service hour requirement for Christ the King's Confirmation program is a
minimum of 20 hours of service to be performed. All 7th Grade students must
  complete
10 hours of service and submit documentation by August 1,
  2009.
Ten (10) additional hours must be completed by April 1, 2010.

The purpose of the service program is to instill a desire and a sense of
responsibility to be servants to the Church and the community.  Service hours
should be completed in one designated program rather than spreading them out
among many different programs.  The candidate may choose an approved
service site from the list provided. Prior approval of service projects is required.
The candidate must submit a signed and approved Service Hour Evaluation
Form.  No pay may be accepted for the service.

Sponsors

Each candidate is required to have a sponsor, so it is not too early to reflect
upon someone who can fill that role. Ideally, the sponsor should be one of the
candidate's godparents. This shows the link between the two sacraments of
Baptism and Confirmation. Parents may not be sponsors to their own
  children.  Every sponsor must be
             (a)  A practicing Catholic;
             (b)  Already confirmed; and
             (c)  16 years of age or older.

  Parents:

Please take the opportunity this year to provide formation at home for your child
who is about to make a very important step in his/her faith journey.  It is also
important to make sure they attend Mass and have proper encouragement
  to complete their service hours.
